Walter Lambert, M.D. ‘85

Walter F. Lambert, M.D., is an associate professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the medical director of the University of Miami Child Protection Team. Dr. Lambert received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, and his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital. As the head of an interdisciplinary team, Dr. Lambert collaborates with the Florida Department of Children and Families on the assessment of child abuse and neglect cases. Along with his teammates, he investigates more than 2,000 reported cases each year. His expert testimony has helped bring justice to some of Floridaƕs youngest victims. Dr. Lambert has taught hundreds of foster care advocates how to recognize the sometimes subtle warning signs of abuse. A specialist in physical, mental, and sexual child abuse, he was invited to present what pediatricians and dermatologists should know about child abuse at the annual Masters of Pediatrics conference. His careful and compassionate examination of children who suffer from abuse is unrivaled. For his work as an advocate for the abused and neglected children of Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, Dr. Lambert has been called the “defender of the innocents.” His dedication to a cause chosen as his life’s work has improved the lives of thousands of children.
