Arthur Eberly, Jr. M.D. ‘60

Arthur L. Eberly, Jr. M.D. ’60 served as president of the Florida Medical Association from 1993-94, and was chair of the Florida Medical Association’s delegation to the American Medical Association from 1999 to 2004. Eberly also served as president of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and chaired two committees for the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was president of the Broward County Medical Association and chair of its board of trustees. Eberly served as chief of staff at North Broward Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was the hospital’s director of indigent care for several years. He was honored by the North Broward Hospital District for long and distinguished service. He founded the hospital’s family practice residency, and a chair in the residency program was subsequently named in his honor. Eberly received an honorary doctor of science from his undergraduate alma mater, Florida Southern College, where he served on the board of trustees for ten years until 2004. Other honors include the Florida Family Physician of the Year in 1988 and the Special Leader Award. He is a charter diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice.
