DOCS Experience Inspires Mental Health Advocate

As an undergraduate student studying human nutrition at the University of Florida, Stefania Prendes-Alvarez accompanied a family friend, a physician on the volunteer faculty at UM, to one of the free health fairs organized by students in the Miller School’s Mitchell Wolfson Sr. Department of Community Service (DOCS). The experience opened her eyes to the vast number of people who lack regular health care.

Medical Alumni Weekend 2011 Sets Record Attendance

Alumni Weekend 2011 celebrated the Miller School of Medicine’s past, present, and future, with three days of activities dedicated to bringing together former medical school classmates. A record-breaking 400 medical alumni and friends attended seminars, ceremonies, professional workshops, and receptions, traveling from as far away as Guam and Washington State to attend.

Freshmen Welcomed into the Medical Profession at Pinning Ceremony

Kicking off alumni weekend, the Class of 2014 was officially welcomed into the Miller School family and the medical profession Friday evening during the 11th Annual John G. Clarkson Freshman Pinning Ceremony, a celebration filled with pomp, circumstance, and plenty of pride.
